ABOUT
Hello! You may know me as Dear Emily Ann, just call me Milly/Mil :)
Having grown up on farm, I have always had a love for the land, showing now through my artistry I am able to transfer the love of nature into my tattooing.
I have been a tattoo artist for over twelve years, whilst I continue to develop and narrow my styling; I only use black ink for the pieces I tattoo. The style of my tattooing is called Illustrative realism, I use dotwork to create depth and shading. I also take on ornamental pieces as well.
Machine wise, I use a mixture of machines, my main ones are Vlad Blad, Ink Machines, Bishop & Dan Kubin and used only Inkjecta machines for about five years during the beginning of my career.
In 2021 I completed a Certified Natural History Illustration course, focusing on Nature, Science and Culture ran through the Newcastle University. I absolutely loved this course and will be searching for further studies in this particular field.
In 2023, I became an Accredited Holistic Creative Arts Therapy Practitioner,
after studying through the Australian Holistic Academy. During 2024, I studied The Arts & Dementia Care unit via UTAS. In 2025 I opened my own Kids Art Studio, hoping to inspire our future artists. This is a process based studio with no structured lessons.
I’m in my thirties, living in the Illawarra with my family, Dylan (my husband) and our son Dustyn. We also have two beautiful corgis, Kona and Nali, recently inherited some chickens, fish & two turtles.
I work in Atlantis Tattoo Studio located in Port Kembla (ten minutes south of Wollongong), previously located in Sydney.
So grateful to be along for the journey of this space and continue to be in awe. Atlantis is a welcoming, light hearted studio. With ten or so artists currently in the studio, it is a super fun space to be in that works well together - however it’s a rarity that we’re all in the studio at the one time.
I have been lucky enough to collaborate and work with brands over the years, some of the brands are: Microsoft, Spectrum Brand (ring lights), Frank Body, The Sewn Seed & also designing the cover of Orion Carloto’s first poetry book ‘Flux’ and tattoo needle sponsorship from Jconly for three years.
Over the years, I have grown to really appreciate the offer of these companies to reach out to me for whatever reason. It is something I am forever thankful for and constantly think about those experiences. Welcoming opportunities as they arise.
I have attended many Australian tattoo conventions over the years and they are always an amazing experience that allows clients to meet their artists or those who they have connected with over socials and have that out of studio communication. Most recently in 2024/2025, I was invited to attend The Iron Gate Convention that was located in Sydney.
Outside of the studio, I spend my days going to the mothering. The things I enjoy are gym, playing my guitar, photography, dirt bikes, camping and collecting hobbies. I love a good podcast, reading and of course drawing. I’m beginning to start my journey into being a more well-rounded artist into painting! So keep your eyes open for that :)
Hope you’ve learnt some information about me in this long winded, about me section !
Much love,
Mil x
